What It Costs and Why
We don't post a flat price on this page because a broken torsion spring on a 1990s double door and a bent track on a 1950s single-panel door are not the same job, and we're not going to guess at your hardware over the phone. What we can tell you is what drives the number: door age, spring size, whether the opener is original or already replaced, and how much the cold-damp cycle here has worked on the metal. Housing across our service area went up mostly between 1944 and 2002, with the bulk of it dating to the 1980s and 90s, so a lot of what we see is aging torsion hardware and openers that have outlived their circuit boards.
In a cold, moderately wet climate band like this one, springs fatigue faster and rollers crack sooner than they would somewhere drier. We quote onsite, after we've actually looked at the door, the track condition, and the panel material. If a repair is going to cost most of what a new door runs, we'll say so plainly instead of patching something that's going to fail again in a year.
That's the honest version of pricing we can give without a number in front of us.
How a Call Goes
We're based in Bellingham and drive out from there, so where you sit on the map changes how fast a truck shows up, not whether we'll come. Close in - Lettered Streets a mile out, Whatcom Falls and Birchwood a couple miles beyond that, then Geneva, Samish Hill, and Cordata around the three-mile mark - we're usually there quick once you call. A bit further, Marietta-Alderwood, Sudden Valley, and Industrial Way sit in the five-to-six-mile range, still a short run.
Past that, Ferndale, Greenwood, and the cluster around eleven to thirteen miles - Alger, Deming, Acme, Everson, Custer - take more drive time, and we schedule those calls with that built in. Furthest out, Bow, Lynden, Nooksack, Birch Bay, Bay View, Sumas, Anacortes, and Sedro-Woolley run fourteen to twenty miles, so those jobs usually get a set appointment window rather than a same-hour arrival. On the call, we ask what the door's doing (won't open, sticks partway, cable off the drum), roughly how old the door and opener are, and where you're located, and that's what tells us how soon we can realistically get out.
What We Fix Most Here
What breaks depends a lot on when the house went up. Across the seventeen named areas we cover, most homes date to the 1980s and 90s, and on those doors we're mostly replacing worn nylon rollers, dead extension or torsion springs, and openers whose logic boards have simply aged out - not dramatic failures, just parts that have done their duty. Where the housing runs older, back toward the 1944 end of the range, we still find original steel doors on side-mounted torsion hardware, single-panel setups that nobody makes parts for anymore, and openers that were bolted on decades after the door itself.
The cold, damp climate here doesn't help either version: it stiffens grease in the tracks, swells wood-panel doors at the seams, and shortens the working life of the springs regardless of the door's age. What we don't do is chase a five-minute fix that leaves a fifteen-year-old opener held together with a new capacitor - at some point the honest call is a new unit, and we'll tell you when we think that point has arrived rather than stack another repair on it.

No. Bellingham Garage Door Pros is based in Bellingham and we drive out to the towns and neighborhoods listed here. We don't have a branch or a crew stationed in Ferndale, Lynden, or anywhere else on that list - every job starts as a truck leaving Bellingham.
Why does my area take longer to get a truck out?
Distance. Areas like Lettered Streets or Birchwood sit a couple of miles from our base, so we can usually get there fast. Sedro-Woolley and Anacortes are twenty miles out, so those calls get scheduled with the drive time built into the window we give you.
Does the age of my house matter for the repair?
