One limit worth saying plainly: we work on residential garage doors and openers. We don't do commercial overhead doors or dock levelers, and if that's what you've got, we'll tell you that on the phone instead of wasting your afternoon.
Who Turns Up
Whoever comes out has worked on the kind of doors this area actually has. Housing here runs from 1944 up through 2002, with the median build year around 1988, so a lot of what we see is older torsion hardware paired with openers that have been swapped once or twice since the house was built. That's true whether the call comes from Birchwood, Samish Hill, or out toward Geneva.
Bellingham sits in a cold, moderate climate band, and that matters for garage doors more than most homeowners expect. Steel panels contract in cold snaps, weatherstripping hardens and cracks, and openers with older logic boards can get twitchy in damp cold mornings. Whoever shows up at your address is looking at those specifics, not just tightening a bolt and leaving.

After You Call
After the call, you'll know what we think the problem is and roughly what it'll take to fix it. We don't quote a firm number over the phone for anything we haven't seen - a spring job can turn into a track replacement once someone's looking at the actual hardware - but you'll have a realistic range before anyone drives out.
On site, the work is usually one of a few things: torsion or extension spring replacement, cable and roller repair, opener swap-outs, or track and panel work on doors that have taken damage. Given how much of the local stock dates to the 1980s and 90s, a good share of what we replace is opener circuitry that's simply aged out, not damaged.
If a repair isn't worth doing - say, a door old enough that parts are hard to source and a full replacement costs about the same as patching it three more times - we'll say so instead of running up a bill. That's not a guarantee of savings, just how we'd rather do the job.
